What more can you ask for than a waking up at 4.42 and not get back to sleep before the alarm goes off...?
Well, I couldn't be bothered turning around over and over again. So I got up at 6 am... How sad? And went for a jog. Lots of wet snow... Loving it!?
I tried my new VJ Sarva Xero (running shoes with studs). Great shoes for winter running. They are water resistant, quite light with 352 grams in size 42 and got plenty of steel studs.
I've always thought winter shoes like that were stiff and uncomfortable and not much fun to run with. But I was really surprised how positive I was at 6.30 am and how well the shoes worked...!
This model has replaced the VJ Sarva. Many are familiar with that model. Here's the link to the VJ page. Helpful if you know your Finnish...
I stayed dry on my feet and had a good grip all the way. Tonight - treadmill session. Will be a lot more sweating then:)

Hi ! I am in Montréal, Canada. I got a pair of Sarva grip from my friend Odd-Jørgen in Trondheim. Here is the report I sent back to him:
"I just came back from a 30 minute run with the Sarva Grip shoes. The fit was perfect with my thicker winter socks. The weather was great too – minus 6, with sunshine, low wind. All the while, my feet have felt warm and comfortable.
As for traction, the shoes are terrific ! I found myself going out of my way to stay on ice and packed snow and I felt stable and secure all the time. On dry pavement I felt the grip, but it was not a problem.
I have to say, up to now, they are living up to your claim of the perfect winter running shoe. The only thing I have to be careful about is not stepping on my wood balcony because they punch out holes very easily !"
Are the Xero very different ?
Sorry the late reply. The Xero is softer and much lighter than the Sarva VJ you have. It's actually a big difference in comfort.
I will get to see OJ at Christmas. He's my boyfriend's uncle:)
I'm glad you enjoy the shoes. Do you wear Sporthill clothes as well. I guess that's great garments for your winter conditions as well as ours.
Merry Christmas and good luck with your training!
