Nike Zoom Skylon+ 11

It's about time to introduce the Nike Zoom Skylon+ 11. This is a lightweight shoe suitable as a trainer for many runners, or an interval/competition shoe for others. The model is not new this fall, but I haven't had the chance to blog about until now.

This model got a great cushioning to be a lightweight shoe. Therefore many runners use Nike Zoom Skylon as a training shoe.

The name Skylon has continued for some years while the shoe's construction and shape have slightly changed the past years.

What's different?

  • The model is narrower than it used to be. It got a tighter fit and could be too narrow for some. The mesh is thinner and enhance comfort and breathability.
  • The midsole is a full-length Cushlon ST carrier gives the foot support and responsive cushioning.
  • Phylite midsole/outsole promotes a smooth and efficient stride.
  • The Nike Zoom Air units deliver responsive cushioning.
  • Dynamic arch bridge midfoot shank boosts support and medial stability while allowing a degree of torsional rotation to unlock the foot’s natural stabilizing mechanisms.
  • The outsole is BRS 1000 carbon rubber placed along the high-wear areas of the outsole for durability and traction where needed. This is one of the greatest inventions of this shoe.

Because Nike dared to remove most of the durable outsole, they developed a lighter shoe which also have a good grip when running in the forest. Also the flex groves make the shoes feel even lighter than they are. This is one of the better running shoes for cross country training! You don't slip with Skylon.

Personally Zoom Skylon is not one of my favorites, but I know so many runners who love this shoe! Because of the light weight (280g/230g) many runners feel safe with the great cushioning that comes with this model.

I tend to get numb feet when running with Skylon. It's like I get too much pressure on my forefoot. It's nothing to do with the support, but more with the pressure I put on the forefoot, I think.  Others have mentioned that they used to have the same feeling, but it disappeared after a while. That's good tough!

Nike Zoom Skylon+ 11 is a Nike+ model and that makes it even more fun to run with!
